Create multi column legend in Report Designer

Hello folks,

I'm trying to create a legend with multiple columns. can you offer any advice here. So far I have tried modifying 'legend.rpx' but both columns are duplicated... ???

  I did this but my problem is that the symbols in the Legend will sometimes get cutoff before they start a new column, I can't figure out why it wont detect the legend size and accommodate itself.

  I've tried various combinations in the behavior settings and I can't seem to get it right. 

  Any ideas?

  do you know how I can put the layer names in Legend which are peresented in current map extent?
