Order global search results?
is there anyway to order the global search results?
Alphabetically? By feature then attribute?

Hi Kenneth,
Currently in the list view of search results, there is no way to order results that are returned by search providers. It is mostly a first come first served situation. The tabular view does allow you to order columns alphabetically by clicking on the column headers for individual attribute fields.

Hey Kenneth,
I didn't say we wouldn't consider adding a feature to order results by attributes - just that we currently don't support it. If we did decide to add a feature like that, how do you envision it working on the results list and results table?
Cheers

1) Order by Feature Label or
2) Group features by layer then order by feature label
Also, results should be in the same order when displayed in the results panel in the side panel or when in wide panel mode on the bottom.
You can sort results in the wide panel on the bottom by attribute field but the sorting order in not honoured when the results are displayed in the side panel. Try viewing the same results in the wide and side results panel.

Just to weigh into this one...
We'd personally prefer option #2 whereby you can group via layers, and then alphabetical after that.
If it could also be done, you could prioritize the layers also. I'm thinking this could be a bit of work as you'd ideally would not want to rank them based on an id in the layer settings as this could get out of control. Perhaps a new tab in the rest manager for Global Search which in turn reads the layers that have global search enabled, and then you can rearrange layers at will in a drag and drop sense - analogous to the map service ordering??
just some thoughts...
cheers
