Jeff,
I see you've had no replies to your query. Did you ever find a solution?
We have modified the supplied out-of-the-box printer templates but have never been able to get rid of the 2nd page that is created in the output format. This 2nd page appears to be either in the template by default or is created during the creation of the output format.
Any suggestions based on your experience?
Thanks,
Vernon

Jeff,
Shortly after posting our query we found a solution. The total size of the print template paper (background), map design area, and margins must be slightly less than the desired print page size. They cannot be exactly equal to the desired print page size.
Margins are set from the Report Designer File >Report Settings Menu. We bumped these down just .01 on the top and right margins and it removed the 2nd page that is created in the PDF (or other) file format.
Another point of question for us is whether the horizontal ruler in the Report Designer is exactly accurate. While the template page width measured exactly 11 inches in report designer, the preview of the document in the print driver properties (during printing) reported the document size as 11.4 inches. Once we changed the width to be slightly less than 11 inches in Report Designer the width reported as 11 inches in the print driver properties.
Playing with various adjustments to these settings should help anyone who is experiencing this same problem.

I've had this same issue with reports before. For a report I have the fits on a single letter size page (portrait orientation), I had to make the total length of the page be 10.988 inches instead of 11. The header and footer are each 1 inch tall, and the body is 8.988 inches.
The report width is set to 8.5 inches wide, and all the report elements have at least a 1/2 inch left or right margin (not sure if using smaller margins would cause things to fall on a second page).

Hi All,
A quick way to verify that the print template fits on one page is to use the preview function in Report designer. Another hint is that some printers do automatically adjust the page and print area automatically which can cause issues as well.
regards,
Edmond
