Rest Manager
When I tried logging onto Geocortex Essentials REST Manager today I got HTTP Error 503 - Service not available.
It worked the last time I used it. I tried running the Post Install again and it told me that The user or group wingis\essentials did not exist. I recreated an Essentials user, as well as an EssentialsAdmin user. Then I reinstalled Geocortex 3.5. I'm still getting a service unavailable message.
Any ideas?

Hi Tom,
You'll get a "Service Unavailable" message if (for any reason) IIS is not able to run the application pools for Essentials.
If your Essentials user has gone missing, then recreating them won't be enough - the application pools are configured with the identity of the Essentials user (username and password!) and if those don't match then it still won't start.
The simplest way to resolve this is to remove the Essentials users:
WINGIS\Essentials
WINGIS\EssentialsAdminThen, remove the Essentials applications from IIS manager:
Default Web Site\Geocortex\Essentials\Web
Default Web Site\Geocortex\Essentials\Manager
Default Web Site\Geocortex\Essentials\ManagerWebService
Default Web Site\Geocortex\Essentials\REST
Default Web Site\Geocortex\Essentials\RestManagerThen, remove the Essentials application pools (three to five of them).
Once that is done, re-run the Essentials post installation wizard and it will re-create the users, set their permissions, recreate the application pools and the applications that they run, and things should work as they did before.
More information is available in the Essentials administration guide, in Appendix A, "Uninstalling an Old Version of Essentials".

Malcom,
Thanks for your prompt response. It was exactly what I needed.
