Hide/disable layers that won't load
We have numerous layers in some of our sites that point to external map services. These services, many of which are nationally hosted by a government agency like EPA, USGS, will sometimes not be available, but often are later. When that happens the users are notified that layers did not load. It would be nice if there was a way to silently disable/hide the layers in the viewer, and when logging into Essentials Manager, disable the layer instead of removing it as removing it will remove all of the configurations (layer descriptions, etc). It would be even nicer if an email/notification trigger could be setup for when layers fail to load, so that site administrators can promptly take the needed action.

Marc,
I know this is a really old post, but did you ever get an answer or find a solution? I'm running into the same problem. I have sites set up with "seasonal" map services. I dont' want to lose all of those layer configurations, but I don't want users getting that warning message every time they access the site. I can hide the layers but they users still get that error message.
Thanks,

I believe if you set the warning level to Ignore for a service in Manager, then you don't get the popup error message. You only get the blue warning icon next to the items in the layer list. 0 -
Thank you, Dan! I found it and that works great! 0
