    Hi,

We also haven't found any Modules for Printing In HTML Viewer 1.2. If there isn't a printing function in this version do you have a timeframe on when it might be available?

    Thanks

The PrintMap activity refers to a workflow activity. Printing in the HTML5 viewer is currently done via workflow. A user interface for printing is on the roadmap for the near future.

Thanks for that clarification Jason. A related question, is there anyway to then bring a legend into a Print Template used as part of a print workflow in v1.2?

    Hi All,

I just found a print module under the samples directory in the download package for HTML Viewer 1.2. Once we got it working it picks up the print templates you have added for that site. It works quite well. The only thing is it stays on the map region permanently and there is no way of turning it off. Probably needs customization to get it to turn on and off and maybe put it in the I want to menu.

    Cheers

    Frank

As I just posted in the Silverlight forum, my SLV site has stopped working on Macs. My idea was to deploy an HTML5 site since I have no control over the Silverlight/Mac world, but I've never developed a workflow from scratch or really played with the HTML5 viewer. Does anyone have a simple print workflow sample they might be willing to share? Thanks...

Since my issue is supposed to be fixed by upgrading to 1.8.1, I'm no longer in panic mode. However, I would appreciate any tips on creating a print workflow for the HTML5 viewer.

Just revisiting this, and I realized I could capitalize on Mark Peacey's good work by copying and pasting the above workflow. It opened right up in Workflow Designer where I tweaked a few settings to use my own print templates, added the print templates to my site, added a menu item to the I want to... menu and bing! All done. I can't thankyou enough, Mark, you saved this novice a lot of time and headache.

FYI Version 1.3 of the HTML5 viewer will have a dedicated printing UI.

As Frank pointed out, there is an SDK sample that contains a simple yet functionality printing UI. I should point out that the HTML5 viewer uses a similar pattern of UI configuration as the Silverlight viewer. UI components can be placed in any "region" in the application. The printing UI can, for example, be placed in the DataFrame on the left-hand side of the viewer, rather than overtop of the map. If you look inside of your configuration files, you'll notice that almost every "view" (UI component) in the system is associated with a particular region.

We used Mark Peacey print workflow from this thread and had a working print workflow till recently. Now we get an error message: "There was a workflow error running activity: Cannot read property 'getSymbol' of null ". Our production system is still at Essentials 3.14.0 and HTML5 1.2. Our print workflow works on our Test server with the latest Essentials and HTML5 viewer.

When I use the GeoCortex Print Templates rest end point and run a print on the Letter Portrait template, I get an image output.

Has anyone had this error message?

    Thanks
