Dynamic Symbols
I've just upgraded to Essentials 3.12 with the hopes of taking advantage of some of the new functionality (dynamic symbols), but they don't seem to be available. All of my services are coming from a 10.1 server. Do I need to do change any additional settings?

Hi Scott
have you configured the map service in ArcGIS Server to allow User modification?

No... Right now I just have KML and Mapping checked. Do I need to turn on feature access or something else?

Hi Scott
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000e885UEAQ
Obviously this looks slightly different in ArcCatalog but this is essentially what you need to turn on

Interesting, I don't know if that option is available in Catalog. I should start using server manager more often.
Thanks Ralph!

Hi Scott
are you using AGS10.1? It has to be to be able to do any of this.
The interfaces are pretty much identical
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000e88QvEAI
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000e88R0EAI
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000e88R5EAI

Hi Ralph
We are using 10.1 and I've checked the box to allow requests, but we're still not getting it in the application. Nor are we able to reorder layers within a service.

Hi Scott
do you have a dynamic workspace set up?
If you view the REST endpoint for the service at http://server/arcgis/rest/services/service/MapServer do you see this value:
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000e88ReEAI
I would suggest if that does not say true then it is yet to be configured correctly.
If it does then you need to update the mapservice connection in the Geocortex REST Manager to ensure that it knows about the Dynamic Layer setting

I don't have access to the manager at the moment, but I know I don't have a workspace set up. My understanding was that you only needed a workspace if you wanted the ability to add data to the application.
ESRI's explanation of and help with Dynamic Layers is quite vague, so thank you for your help on this.

Hi Scott
I was assuming that the workspace acts a bit of scratch workspace that is used in some way by the dynamic layer creation/usage.
