Post-installation fails because service not started
Yesterday on a new virtual machine I installed ArcGIS Server 10.1 and it’s running as it should. I followed that by installing Geocortex Essentials 3.14 and had no difficulty until the post-installation began. When launching that, it processed for a few minutes, then a window popped up saying “The Geocortex Essentials Post Installation application has encountered an error. The Server service is not started.”
There were no errors during installation. Afterward when I looked at Windows Services, I saw no Geocortex process running, so that is certainly the reason for the error message. I know from previous experience that at least a Geocortex Agent service should be running. How can I ensure it does? I’ve already tried uninstalling and re-installing, but that made no difference. I thought of trying 3.12 because that had been the latest version successfully used, but I decided to post here first. Please reply if you have a solution.

To view the Application Services currently running, load Geocortex Agent from the Start Menu, installed under the Latitude Geographics directory.
Is there any information presented in the REST Elements/REST/App_Data/Logs SYSTEM log file for the date this occurred?
