What actions need to be done when ESRI retire Legacy Geocoding serverice Word Places Locator on December 2013
We have a GIS Viewer with Geocortext Essential 3.14. The viewer uses ArcGIS Geocoding service world places locator in address search. Recently we received an email from ESRI stating that some Geocoding and Routing services will be retired on December 31 2013 including the Word Places Locator. The email said that the new Word Places Locator service(url is the unchanged) will require an ArcGIS Online paid or trial subscription. We do have ArcGIS Online paid subscription. Currently in Geocortex Essential Manager, we have the geocoding service by going to Geocoding services->Edit Geocoding Service then put the service url http://geocode.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services . My question is once the legacy geocoding service is retired, do we need to put information about our ArcGIS Online paid subscription anywhere?
Thank you!

Hi there,
For basic geocode requests, the new Esri service does not appear to consume any ArcGIS Online credits.
So, you should not need to provide your ArcGIS Online credentials anywhere to continue using the Esri service for forward geocode requests.
If you wish to use the Esri service for batch geocoding, then you must register an App ID and App Secret in your site that will enable Essentials to communicate with ArcGIS Online. If you do this, then users who launch a viewer with this service will then be required to enter valid ArcGIS Online credentials before the batch geocode will work.
The ability to configure an App ID / App Secret is in Essentials 3.15 and later.
Regards,
