Searching stops working when using the list results view

We have a 1.3.1 html5 viewer running that is exhibiting strange search result behavior. After a few searches using the default side panel result listing, searching stops working. If you switch to the table view it will start working fine again and will continue to work fine as long as you are using the table result view. This happens in Chrome, Firefox and IE 9.

Has anyone encountered anything similar or have any suggestions?
