Turning on/off labels from the Geocortex,

I’m wondering if there is a way to turn on/off labels from the Gecortex (as we do in the ArcMap).

/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000eluISEAY

If so, layers can be published with turned off label while users of the web mapping application can have the chance to turn on/off labels. Therefore, it will be the decision of the very end user to lose some performance when the labels are turned one.

    You can toggle labels on and off in Geocortex, but the service has to be published Dynamic Workspaces allowed (listed under Capabilities when configuring an AGS service). If that's enabled, then you can choose whether or not to allow dynamic labels or symbology withi GE Rest Mgr.

    Thanks John,

    Sorry for the confusion.

    What I meant here is to let end-users of the web mapping application be able to turn on\off the labels but not the Geocortex manager.

    Is that possible?

    Yes, that is possible.

    Step 1: Enable Dynamic Workspaces on your map service.

    /customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1fxEAA

    Step 2: Choose whether or not to Show Labels in GE Rest Mgr on the Details tab of the map layer in question.

    /customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elziTEAQ

    Then your end users will be able to toggle the labels on and off within your application.

    Sorry John. I’m again in trouble.

    I have set everything, nevertheless, I don’t have the “show label” in the application

    What might be the issue?

    When you publish the service from the MXD the lables must be ON in the MXD for the above instructions to work.

    I know this post is quite old but I am trying to enable users to turn labels on and off as well. I've published the service with dynamic layers enabled, however when I launch the map in the viewer, I dont see anywhere for the user to turn labels on or off. I am using GE 4.5 and HTML5 Viewer 2.6...Thanks!

    Another solution to this is when you publish the service create one layer with just the geometry and one with just the labels.  This way you do not have to publish with dynamic layers enabled and it gives the user the option to shut off the labels in the Layer list.
