Edit multiple layers settings at once (or by group layers)

I have hundreds of layers and when I load a map service, by default none of them are set on for map tips and inlcude in global search so I have to go through clicking these all on. Takes a long time. Why not just turn on global search and map tips for the whole group layer? Or select many layers at once and change teh settings of those.
