Upgrade 3.15.1 to 4 Error on Post Installiation

    Hi Peter,

    It seems that your machine is missing a Windows component called DISM.exe (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744566(v=ws.10).aspx) that we use to configure some aspects of ASP.NET. This error is a little strange because the DISM application should be present on any supported machine. This is part of the Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) so you should be able to install this first and avoid the problem. We'll attempt to replicate this here and I will post back shortly.

    I ran into the same problem that Peter did when I tried to install on Server 2008 Standard SP2 running in VM.

    I verified DISM.exe is not installed on that particular image of Windows 2008 Standard.

    Hi All,

    We are just testing a fix that should be available very soon. Thanks for your patience.

    Hi Ryan.  Do you know, will this fix also take care of the issues encountered on http://support.geocortex.com/SupportForums/Thread.aspx?thread=55113&mid=2&pageid=0&ItemID=2&pagenumber=1#post151555

    Our Essentials installation is on the E: drive, so I want to make sure to avoid any potential problems during the install.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

    The fix will also eliminate/avoid the erroneous <add /> elements.

    The issue reported by Darren on the other thread actually looks like it is related to fully qualified domain names and Manager not knowing where to find the REST application. Installation on an alternate drive should not be a factor.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    The machine I installed on was a physical Windows Server 2008 R2 64.  Going on 4 years old.

    While installing the "Windows Automated Installation Kit" did install DISM.EXE, I'm still getting the error.

    dism.exe is sitting in "C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\ia64\Servicing"

    Hi Peter,

    We've sent a fix to AAM to pass along to you.  They should be in contact later today.

    Hi Malcolm.  Any idea when the fix will be posted on the Geocortex site?

    We are in the middle of the upgrade process, but need this fix ASAP to finish.  When can I get it?

    Hi All,

    There is a Hotfix now available on the Essentials Downloads page. It provides a new Post Installer executable that avoids this issue.

    Hi all,

    I just upgraded from 3.15.1 to 4.0.2, and in the install instructions it said "If you are upgrading from 3.15 or newer, the installer is capable of automatically carrying forward modifications

    from the old Web.config files to the new Web.config files."

    However I now receive the following error when I try to launch Essentials Manager :

    /customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elu8DEAQ

    It's saying there are duplicate <authorization> sections in the \\?\C:\Program Files (x86)\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Essentials\Default\REST Elements\Manager\web.config File.

    I checked and did not see any duplicates, and even compared it to the saved web.config file from version 3.15.1 but I can't figure out to what it's referring.

    Has anyone else ran into this issue?

    Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated, Thank You!

    Update: So it turns out there WAS a duplicate section, I just scanned through it too many times.

    It was this section below, in case anyone else runs into the same issue:

      <location path="GlobalizationResources/JavaScriptLanguageResources">

        <system.web>

          <authorization>

            <allow users="*" />

          </authorization>

        </system.web>

      </location>

    Not sure why the upgrade caused this to duplicate, at least it was an easy fix!
