Instant Search - enabling in multiple sites without rescanning?

Hello.  I've implemented instant search for a map service on one site, and want to enable it on a different site (using the same service).  The documentation says I don't need to rescan the service, but I can't enable it without rescanning.  The Instant Seach scheck box is disabled.  Am I missing something?

  I'd question whether both sites are pointing to the exact same service if you don't see the same details on the Instant Search tab between both sites, with the sole exception being the state of the checkbox which can be toggled on a per-site basis. Meaning, if you start scanning a service on site 1, you should be presented with the option to pause scanning on site 2. To the point, the checkbox should allow toggling on both sites after scanning is started in either. Check the connection string on the service Details page to verify.

  If you still see this behavior, could you let us know the steps you're taking to reproduce this and on which Essentials version?

  Oops, my bad.  The second site was hitting some different services than the first site.  Duh, it must have been a Monday.
