    Hi Laura,

If you create an AD account for the Essentials application you will need to change the Essentials Application Pool (usually EssentialsAppPool4) to use the account.

    1. Open IIS Manager
    2. Right click the Application Pool
    3. Click "Advanced Settings"
    4. Click the "..." button for the Identity
    5. Select "Custom Account"
    6. Click "Set" and supply the credentials
    7. Click "OK" on all the dialogs to complete exit
    8. Re-run the Essentials Post Installer (this will grant the new user the correct file permissions on the various Essentials folders)

There is no need for the passwords of the old and new accounts to agree.

There are other possible solutions to this problem:

    • You can create the same local user on the machine that owns the network share. In this case the usernames and passwords of the two accounts must match. There is no way to recover the password for the local Essentials user, but you can reset it. You will need to go through the same steps above to update the app pool to use the new password.

    Hi Laura,

Did you get this working? We're trying to do the same thing and I'm also having trouble getting access to our shared drive.

    Thanks,

    Hi Yaoyi,

The method that Ryan posted should still work, did you try that?  If you turn your REST log level up to debug, and check the REST logs, do you see any errors?

    Thanks!
