dynamic legend only show layer classes that existing in the current extent

Hi,

when print map with print template, would it be possible to have the legend to include only layer classes that exist in the export extent? e.g. I have a layer with 10 classess, if the map only have class 1 and 2 in the extent, could the legend just include the two classes rather than showing all 10 of them? I can see this can be done in ArcMap, would be great if Geocortex could do it as well

  Hi there,

  Did you ever find out how to achieve this?  I have a layer symbolised by class and there are thousands.  When I print I want only the 5 or 6 that are visible to be included in the legend.

  Hi Jack! I've just checked in with the Essentials team and this capability is not on the roadmap for this year (i.e., not in the feature release following Essentials 4.6/HTML5 viewer 2.7). I've let them know that this is important to you.

  I've just discussed this with the Essentials team. This enhancement would add a great deal of complexity to printing and would therefore negatively impact its performance, so it's not something they plan to implement currently. It's something that will be kept in mind for future development.

   

  In the meantime, please do vote on (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCIdeasDetail?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&id=087600000004MbuAAE&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials) the idea , if this functionality is important to you. User feedback is a significant factor in our development planning.

  Of course this functionality is very much required for the implementation of our project. Because of this simple reason we are holding our project for a long time. Any of the help is highly appreciated.

  This is a pretty basic request. A legend that is useless is pretty much that, useless.

  This is by far the most requested feature from hundreds of users within our organisation. As others have said legends for any complex layers with symbolization by class enabled become unmanageable and useless at present.
