  • Jamal, you might have some tiled map services in your map that limit the zoom scale. I had the same problem with some external tiled map services i used as basemaps. I solved the problem setting the service type as "Dynamic". Hope it works!

Rather than setting the service type to dynamic, create additional map scales in your cache.  You don't have to cache the map at those scales, but it will allow the user to zoom in further while still setting the service type as cached (thus taking advantage of the optimal performance of the cached tiles).

In ArcToolbox > Server Tools > Caching > Manage Map Server Cache Scales

  • Stepahanie, you're right! My suggestion applies in case you're using some publilc base map services as MapQuest o Esri's Street Map and others, where you can't control caching levels.

Thank you very much GSitta and Stephanie for the help,

In my Geocortex application, I use just one cached service.

Why this cached service should control the behavior of entire application even in case this service is turned off?

    Jamal,

In the Map Module, try setting the 'Minimum Resolution' value to a number like 0. That works for me. (This is with Silverlight Viewer)

    Jamal,

GE will take it's maximum/minimum zoom level from the layer at the bottom of your layer list, even if it is turned off.

I had this exact same issue.  The way around it for me was to create a 'dummy' cached base map layer with all the required scale levels, and then add this to GE as the last layer.  It is turned off by default so it is invisible to the users.  This layer simply conatins a single point feature to keep its size to a minimum.

Note - you will also have to add this to the overview map if you have it configured.

    Regards,

    Eugene

I thought of one more thing you can check.  In Essentials Manager, edit the viewer, and click the "Map Module" tab.  Under "Settings" check that the "Snap to levels" box is NOT checked.  If the box is checked then the map will only zoom to specific cache scale levels; if it is unchecked you should be free to zoom to any scale.  It still uses your cached tiles.

Thank you very much Mark ,QPSGIS and Stephanie for the help.

Mark and Stephanie: the setting of my viewer is as below, nevertheless, the application fails to appears in all scales

QPSGIS: your workaround is perfect. I apply it and now I can zoom to all scales defined for that auxiliary “cached point service”

    Best
