Access Secured AGS Folder from Manager
Hi,
I am trying unsuccessfully to access a secured AGS folder/service using an Essentials Manager Service Connection. Looking for some help troubleshooting as I have run out of things to try.
I have AGS 10.1 and have secured a folder with a service in it. The folder is set to allowed users of particular roles from our Active Directory. I can accecss the folder and service inside it by logging in as an acceptable user through the REST service directory. Then I went to a site in Manager and Add Service, then created a Web Tier (configured credentials) connection with the same user (server admin user). I can access the unsecured services in that connection but the secured folder is invisible. Essentials 4.1.1.

David, I had some similar problems and I resolved managing AGS services with the AGS Manager (browser version), checking authorizations to single users.
You could also try to use the "Token Security (by user)" option in Essential's Manager Connections Settings. This let me get out of most difficult secured connections!

Thanks for the suggestion Gu. I used token security and it did work. I suspect part of my problem is that my AGS is configured to use the GIS Tier of security for authenticating rather than the Web Tier. But when I changed it to Web Tier everything was locked down and none of my public services were open. I gave up trying to sort that out since the token option works.
