Home Panel problems
I'm using HTML 5 viewer, v 2.2 and the home panel hates me. I add a title, ok. I add text and try to format it...no dice. I can type text in but cannot format it at all. I apply changes and save site, view my site, and it's back to the default text. WTH?!
I also can't get it to display by default, whether the show home panel checkbox is checked or not....no home panel.

Hi Rebecca,
Are you using Internet Explorer? We encountered an issue that matches what you describe, and it had to do with Internet Explorer and the 3rd party rich text editor component used to create and edit home panel content. Version 2.2.1 of the HTML5 Viewer ships with a management pack that includes an updated rich text editor control and installing it should resolve that issue.

But what about the Show Home Panel checkbox? Mine doesn't seem to make any difference either. Is it supposed to open with the Home Panel displayed if checked?

Thanks Jason. I'll try installing the update. The checkbox not working is another issue. Is this a known bug? If not can it be submitted for review? It would be great if it worked! Any workarounds out there for showing the home screen by default?

The home panel checkbox was fixed in 1.3. A workaround is to find the "InfoView" in configuration and add a property "visible" to it and set it to true.
Sean, what version are you using?

I'm in Essentials 4.1.1 and HTML5 2.2

I updated this code block to include the visible property. This resulted in the home panel being accessible again (i.e. I can manually click it on/off) but it still won't show by default. I downloaded the update for 2.2.1 but all the files are still named 2.2....which is confusing. Do I just replace the old 2.2 vte file with the new one? Redeploy the management packs and to IIS? I can't add a new template with the same name as an old one but I'm worried my viewer will get messed up if I delete the "old" 2.2 template and replace it with the new one.

I found the Open by Default checkbox for the Data Panel on the Look and Fee l properties. This, combined with checking the Include Home Panel and Show Home Panel checkboxes on the Home Panel properties opens the Home Panel when the application launches.
See?
As clear as an unmuddied lake . . . .

Thanks Sean! That did the trick! No more hair pulling....for now ;)
Any idea how to get rid of the "sign in" link next to the search box?

That's my next target as well . . . I don't see an immediate configuration setting for it. Not sure why it's there since the site is Anonymous Guest for security.
Maybe the Latitude will speak . . . .

You can remove the sign in link by clicking on the "Permissions" link in the Site Manager. You will see a tab named "Sign-In Settings" Uncheck the checkboxes and the sign in link will disappear.

Jason - I looked for the management pack that includes an updated rich text editor control in the 2.2.1 download, but I didn't see it (or I didn't know what I was looking for, exactly). What do I need to grab? We only get IE installed on our computers here, so I can use FireFox portable app as a workaround, but it would be nice to get it working in IE so I don't have to log out and log in for changes like this.
Cheers,Steph

Hi Steph. Installing the VTE for 2.2.1 will give you the updated management pack (it ships with the viewer).
