Identify Polygon Issues

So, we have one person who used the Identify Polygon and made a 3 point polygon where the last point was almost exactly the same as the second point, creating, essentially, a line.  The results pane just spins and spins and never gives any results.

Why doesn't this return any results? it still has area even through it may be tiny.

Are there threshholds I can set for 'minimum area'  of the identifying polygon?

Also, is there a 'timeout' I can set to get that results spinner to stop and let them know the search has finished and found no results?
