Location Button on Map Causes Blue Hghlight

That blue highlight is based on the GPS accuracy. The larger the blue dot, the less accurate it is to your actual location. This can be improved by getting to a better view of the sky, connect to wifi, etc. The smaller the dot, the better the accuracy of the device. I've had the same results with different broadband providers. No real resolution besides just moving around and trying the locate button again until the dot gets smaller (better accuracy)

Thanks, Jeff.  But I was more interested in getting rid of the highlight entirely once it has been invoked.  Do you know which viewer command will remove the location highlight?  I'm creating a workflow to reset the map by clearing all highlights, markups, maptips and zooming to intial extent, but I can't seem to get this highlight to go away with all the others.

    Hi Sean,

You can dismiss the geolocation accuracy circle by clicking / tapping on it.

I don't think there is a way to clear it from a workflow, though.

We do have an improvement filed for better control on how this function behaves (whether or not to display the circle-of-confidence, whether or not to zoom, etc.)  I'll put your name on that issue.

    Regards,

Thanks, Malcolm.  I'll look for word on that development in the future.

    Sean,

Looking at your posts it sounds like you have a workflow to remove/clear search results (highlight around selected feature). Is there a command for that? I can't locate it in the searching I've done.

    Thanks,

    Craig

In the HTML5 viewer, I use a parallel container and execute RunExternalCommand activties with "RemoveHighlightLayer" as the viewer command and the name of my highlight layer(s) as the parameter.

I also use a RunExternalCommand with "HideMapElement" as the viewer command and "MapTipResultsCallout" as the parameter to clear out any open Map Tips.

Then I use a RunExternalCommand with "RemoveCollectionById" as the viewer command and pass the name of the collection as the parameter. When I add highlighted/selected features, I use a SelectFeatures activity and put the result into a named collection.  It is this collection name that I use to remove the highlights/selection.

Let me know if this answers your question.

    Good afternoon folks,

Do any of you know if the ability to remove the blue accuracy "halo" is available in the HTML5 2.1 Viewer? I want to demo a Dev app on a tablet emulator and the halo covers the whole map.

There is a Display Geolocation Accuracy Circle checkbox in the viewer configuration.
