Charting tools not recognizing some ESRI field types as numeric?
I am finding that certain ESRI field types are not being recognized as numeric by the charting tools, and I would like to hear if any others have experienced similar issue?
Specifically, the "Plot Numerical" options seems to ONLY be working for me with integer fields. It does NOT appear to work with other ESRI numerical data types such as Double or Float.
In my case, my linked data consists of stream channgel elevations measured at different distances along the channel. The data type for both fields is "esriFieldTypeDouble", and I am trying to plot the distance field on x-axis and elevation on y-axis, but I can not get the "Plot Numerical" option to show-up for x-axis, unless I CAST my "x-values" as integer field type in the SQL statements used to set up my data links. This truncates the numbers, so is not really an ideal solution.
There was a similar issue reported for field types "esriFieldTypeSmallInteger" not being recognized as numeric, as documented on (https://support.geocortex.com/SupportForums/Thread.aspx?thread=55139&mid=2&pageid=0&ItemID=7) this forum thread , and according to the bug-fixes in the Release Notes this issues was fixed in GE 4.1: "GE-4320: Fields of type esriFieldTypeSmallInteger aren't recognized as numeric fields in Charting"
I am using GE. 4.1.4, so I wonder if it could be that a fix was implemented that added "esriFieldTypeSmallInteger" but there could still be other numerical esri field types with similar issues? And would like to know if anyone else has either experienced or can replicate this problem with other ESRI numeric field types?
thanks
Pascual
