Allen I have a requirement in my project to geocode addresses on the fly.

Click on Address, Use BING Geocoding service which I have configured in my HTML5 viewer so that user can be directly taken to the address on the viewer.

Any help or idea how to accomplish this? If you have done something similar please share!

    Thanks

    Amit

    Hi Amit -

We have built workflows that use our own Geocoding service to find addresses on a map.  Currently we have a map set up where the search window comes up when the map opens, and you can type or paste an address in the box and it zooms to it.

The workflow is complicated (I find them all to be complicated - very powerful but really hard to learn how to build them).  Basically it takes the address, calls the geocoding service, them zooms to and highlights the address point that was returned.

Is that the kind of thing you are looking to do?

Yes that is exactly I am looking for.

Take address and zoom to that address on the map.

I would be really thankful if you can share the same with me..this is the only piece in which we are struggling in our project.

    Thanks

    Amit

    Hi Amit -

I would recommend looking at the code gallery on the support forum - there is an LA County Search Workflows section that includes workflows that search for Parcels and schools.  These can be modified pretty easily to fit your data and serve as good starting point for building workflows that execute searches.  You should be able to open any .xaml file in workflow designer.

There is a steep learning curve for workflows, however.

    Good luck
