Report for Point Features

Hi all,

Ok, got a little stuck and thought I'd throw this out to knowledge base as I'm assuming I'm just missing a little thing.  I'm trying to create an attribute report from a feature selection.  Have this working for polygons (parcels) via the LA template, but would like to do a similar thing for point features, ie Benchmarks, EOC Shelters, Oil&Gas wells, etc.  In the workflow to kick off the report I use the 'DisplayCaptureGeometry'.  If I use the MapPoint option, my report comes out empty, if I use the Poly or Rectangle, the point feature will select & highlight, but I get an error stating the; 

Envelope is a point.

Cannot proceed.

Parameter name: envelope

I haven't been able to find where that parameter is set to see if it is adjustable. So I was wondering if anyone had an straight forward way to gather a point feature selection and pass that a report.  Or what geometery type I need to use to allow for the point feature selection from the Poly or Rectangle input?
