Prompt user to enter URL for activity as input argument
Hi,
In activities that use service’s URL, like geocode activity or route task activity, how can I configure the URL as a parameter (Input Argument) for the tool, so the one who add the workflow to the site can enter it, rather than entering it in the xaml file? Screenshots below for the “extract” workflow can describe the issue.
Thank you.
Hani,
1- Add the xaml file as workflow to the site.
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elzL5EAI
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000eluCyEAI
2- The user can Enter his URLs here.
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elu5xEAA
4- How can I do this in Geocode Activity?
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1b8EAA

Why not have a display form that prompts the user to enter a URL, store the text from the display form as a variable, and use it in the workflow for the required geocoding activity?

Hi Eric,
The end-user has nothing to do with the URLs, I want the one who adds the workflow to the site (Site Admin) to be able to enter this URL once a life (In workflows page).
I've created an input argument in the workflow that prompts the Site Admin to enter the URL, but in this case, the tool does not work and end with an error (shown below). Whereas, when doing the same thing (defining an input argument for another activity that takes a URL like Route task Activity), it works well. Do you have an idea what should be the issue here?
Best,
Hani
1- Adding the workflow
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elzlXEAQ
2- Entering the Geocoding service URL
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000eltuuEAA
3- When running the tool this error appears
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elzPbEAI

Many Thanks Nico for your valuable input,
You are right! The routing service URL lies under "In Arguments" tab in the properties panel. Whereas, the Geocode service URL lies under "Misc" tab.
