Move ( zoom in, zoom out. pan)
Hi all,
Is there a method to move the buttons such as ( zoom in / out, Pan) next to open and save project in geocortex, see the screenshot

Its important for me because I need ( zoom in/out, pan ) to be displayed in each tab such as open and save project, I think these tools are very important to be shown always
regardless of which tab I use.

You can always add the navigation tools to each of your toolbar groups, either as their own group or tacked onto the existing tools/buttons for each tab. When editing the viewer, Just drag the navigation tools from the list of available tools on the left to the configured toolbar on the right.
The red circled navigation tools are in their own group, the blue circled buttons are just added to the existing buttons for the 'welcome' tab. You can repeat this for as many tabs as you have (looks like 6 in your image). It would definitely be simpler if there were a 'global' section in the toolbar that would remain constant no matter which tab you were on.

Would this work for what you need?

Hi Peter Hanmore
"a 'global' section in the toolbar that would remain constant no matter which tab you were on" this is precisely what I am searching for, I need a global group that remains constant regardless which tab i use, adding the navigation tools in each tab could be a solution but the other tabs will be crowded with buttons, i think the best way to avoid this is add them next to the open project and save project icons, see the screenshot.

Hi Peter,
What Ahmad wanted to do is to have the “zooning tools” in the same bar of the “save” and “open”. For example, in the ERDAS software, some tools are located on a separate bar so that they can be accessed no matter which tab is clicked. Please, have a look on the screenshot below.

Is this possible in the Geocortex?

Hi Ahmed and Jamal, It is not possible to add more buttons near the "save" and "open", however, there are several ways to navigate while using other tools or having other tabs open: - For zooming: the end user can always zoom-in and zoom-out using the navigation widget located in the top left of the map (right below the "I want to..." menu). The mouse scroll-wheel will also zoom-in and out. Alternatively, a user can hold the left "shift" key and draw a rectangle in the map to zoom in, and the left "Ctrl" and "Shift" to zoom out. The "+" and "-" keys on the keyboard will also zoom in and out. - For panning: This is the default tool, so if the user is in a different tab than the home, so the user can always pan regardless of which tab they have open in the toolbar. If they have a tool selected and they want to pan, they can either deselect the tool (which will be equivalent of clicking the pan button) or hold the space-bar in the keyboard while panning. I hope this helps, Alejandro 0 -
Thank you very much Alejandro for the very useful input. This helps a lot.
From our perspective, “zooming tools” represent the heart of any web mapping application and they better to be deigned to be accessed straight forward with LEAST NUMBER OF CLICKS. Most of other web mapping applications keep these tools available no matter what other active functions\tabs are like the ones below.

Why should this be difficult in the case of the Geocortex?
Do you have any plan to do so in the future releases of the new HML5 (that will completely replace the Silverlight in terms of functions)?

In the HTML5 viewer, perhaps it is an option to change the region of the ZoomInView and the ZoomOutView from TopLeftMapRegion to HeaderRegion.

Fortunately, LG is moving toward HTML5 to make it as powerful as the Silverlight in terms of capabilities.

Hi Jamal, Thank you for your feedback. Please note that both the Silverlight viewer and the HTML5 viewers have a navigation widget to zoom-in and zoom-out with just one click. This widget is always visible on the map in both viewers. Additionally, if instead of just click-to-zoom the user wants to draw a rectangle to zoom in, they can hold the left shift key and draw a rectangle with the mouse. This works in both Silverlight and HTML5. Hope it helps, Alejandro 0 -
Thank you Alejandro for the prompt support.
Our main suggestion here is to have a “quick access bar” like the one available in AutoCAD such that tools can be put there. In this case, these commands can be accessed regardless the tab selected.
Is this already considered in the new releases of the Geocortex?

I understand that the user can use the space bar to pan as your suggestion above, but it does not work if there is a different tool selected such as Identify. SO in HTML5 I must click the X for the pop up instructions for the tool at the bottom of the viewer. THEN I can pan, BUT a client new to the site will get frusterated, they won't understand how to do that right off the bat and they will have to go to the Navigation Tool bar and manually click pan AND then they have to go back to the other tab where the function is that they want to use, it is kinda a pain for them. It is also a pain for me as well. I know that if I click the X, that function will then deselect and my pan tool will work, BUT would it not be nicer if below the square + and - buttons on the map below the "Expand/Collapse Data Frame button" that you could have the option of having the Pan tool there as well? I know you have the bookmark doing this now in HTML5 2.5 version. Is there a way to have the pan tool there as well? 0
