connection to geoportal catalog

in our org, we are using ESRI's geoportal as a search engine to discover and track sites and metadata. geoportal keeps a catalog of searchresults and you can add a selected result to the built in flex viewer on the fly.  i would like to connect to this geoportal catalog with geocortex, much the same way you might connect as a voyager connecton.  Can anyone at latitude advise me on where to go from here.  I believe the geoportal cataloge uses standard get and post protocols but i am not a deep diver of the geoportal catalog protocols.  

bottom line is can geocortex use or connect to the Esri's geoportal catalogue?
