Is there a way to edit the contents of the home panel outside of the manager application?

  You should be able to edit it in any editor (not a word processor) using standard HTML tags to make it appear the way you like.  Once the editing is done you need to HTML encode it.  The built in editor might be quicker to use but if you really want to edit it with something else, it can be done.

  We moved this text into the locale file so we could support english and french (otherwise the text is just stored in desktop.json.js which would mean we would need two versions of the app in order to support 2 languages).

  I've found that the rich text editor doesn't work when GE manager is opened with IE.  I use FireFox exclusively now for this reason. Not sure if that's useful in your case but it was painful before I discovered that.
