Transparency slider
What are the requirements for the transparency slider to be available?
It doesn't appear for every service and we are wondering how we need to set up our services for the slider to be available.
Seems to always work for tiled services, but only some of the dynamic services have it in our viewers.
Any information or assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

The help indicates that this is a configurable setting on the layer list, but I am not seeing this checkbox.

Kathy, are you editing the HTML5 viewer template in Manager? The Layer List tab is where the checkbox is located.

Along this same subject line is: How does one set the initial transparency for a map service? All of mine default to 100% opaque but I need most of them to be some percentage transparent.

Dan, to respond to your original post (so we don't completely hijack the thread)...
I have tiled basemaps and dynamic map services for all of my other data. I get transparency sliders for every map service with the following exceptions:
- I have some individual map services containing utility AutoCAD drawings converted directly to file geodatabase format and published "as-is". A map service example name is "Utilities - Water". Inside the map service is a group layer containing the anno, point, polyline, polygon, and multipatch feature classes that are direct analogs to the CAD drawing. The transparency slider does not show up at the map service level but DOES show up at the group layer level. This is odd to me but at least the option is still there.
- The other exception is a map service that I have added to my site and then subsequently added a feature class to the map service document and re-published the service. Like my Esri Flex Viewer, I expected the new layer to simply be added into the map service. But in GE, I needed to add that layer in manually. It shows up as its own entry in the map service list (and initially also in the layer list) but I moved it into the intended location within the map service so it would be grouped properly. This map service does not have a transparency slider anywhere.
So... are the services that do not have a slider modified in some way similar to what I describe above? Transparency behavior is only available at the map service level (Esri constraint, not GE, as this is also the case with my Flex Viewer). My suspicion is that once I added a "foreign" layer to the map service it could no longer honor the transparency behavior. Just my theory, however.

Dan,
It appears that this may still be a bug, or at least a variation of a bug. See the following post:

I've also answered my own question about initial transparency... I was looking for a setting within the layer list config in the the Map tab but this is located within the map service config-->display settings tab.
Yet another step closer to having a functional replacement to my existing Esri Flex Viewer apps!

Thanks to all respondents, we are understanding how this works with each map service. The forums are proving very helpful to us to get up to speed.
