Using Data Link
I couldn’t figure out how to configure the data links to a layer ( G.E 4.2.1, GVS 2.3.3 )
Please consider the following steps,
1 I have the following excel file “ the key column is A “
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1NtEAI
2 then in the data connection tab I have added an OLEDB data connection.
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elzv3EAA
3 the connection succeeded as shown
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em164EAA
4 the name of the layer that I want to connect the excel file is communities and the key field is “Ref_C_MOLG”.
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1I5EAI
5 Editing the map service and adding a data link
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1lvEAA
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1ZfEAI
6 setting A column as a data link
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elth8EAA
7 adding parameter to connect A column to Ref_C_MOLG
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1NyEAI
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000eluD8EAI
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000eluDmEAI
And then nothing have been changed in the commuinties layer, What is the issue here??
Many thanks,
Ahmad

Looks like your file is located on the C drive, but in order for Essentials to access an ODBC data file, the file must reside in your Sites folder or one of its subfolders. You can either copy the file to the Sites folder before you create the data connection, or you can use Manager's Upload function to copy the file over when you configure the connection.

Wouldn't you actually need column names in your excel file? I don' tthink ODBC works using the columns numbers of excel. I could be wrong.
But yes you definitely can't do that from your c drive. Put it in your site folders somewhere.
