Include/Exclude Fields for Global Search
I am trying to include fields from a service to be used by Global Search.
The fields are all listed in the Exclude/Include fields map service edit area but they wont move across from exclude to include. Its as if they are not valid fields in some way.
Is there something specific that needs to be done to the service that makes these fields properly available? The attributes all appear in identify no problem.
Am using 4.2.2 on 2012Server and iis.
Thanks for any pointers on this.
Cheers

There are a couple of things you need to do to include fields in Global Search. The first is to enable global search for layer on the Details tab for the layer (it's a checkbox near the bottom of the page). The second is to enable global search on each field you want to use. I don't know why you can move your fields from exclude to include, but my guess as to why they still show up in an identify result is because you have the <all other fields> setting for the layer in the Field menu set to make them visible.

Many thanks for your response John.
I do have those settings set (include in global search) but those fields wont let me move them into the Include column. I will check the service a little more closely to see if anything is wrong with it.
Does anything specific have to be done to 'expose' fields for manipulation in Essentials 4.2 or should any service simply be ingest and fields easily accessed?
Thanks
Doug

You should be able to move them; there's no additional setting to work with native fields. One workaround you could try would be to manually edit the Site.xml to see if you can add a field to your site that GE Manager isn't letting you move from excluded to included.
