export to shapefile
I noticed in the Geocortex Essentials Feature Matrix (v4.2) that the functionality to "Extract features to Shapefile" is listed as currently being supported by the current HTML5 Viewer. I am using Essentials v4.2 and the latest HTML5 Viewer (v2.3.3) but I can't find any kind of tool that performs this extract function. Am I missing something? If so, please guide me to such a tool/functionality.
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary,
Check the toolbar, mapping/data section, for a tool called "Extract Layer Data". You may have to add it first via the Toolbar page of the viewer management pack.

Wayne,
I don't see a mapping/data section in the available tools in Essentials. Can you explain how I can access the "Toolbar page of the viewer management pack" that you referenced? Do I need to configure my HTML5 viewer template through the post install and click on Upgrade?
Ragards,
Gary

I'd be interested to know where this tool is? I didnt think it was available in HTML5 yet.

Hi Gary and Chris,
I am referring to the current release of Essentials and the HTML5 viewer (4.2/2.3). To get to the Toolbar page you would click Viewers, Edit HTML5 viewer, Toolbar as per this screenshot :
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1bHEAQ
This would only be applicale if you installed the viewer with the management pack and not installed it manually.
I hope this helps.

Wayne,
When I upgraded to the HTML5 Viewer 2.3.3, I installed the Geocortex.Essentials.Html5Viewer.Template.2.3.3.vte template.
When I edit the toolbar for the HTML5 Viewer, the only groups of tools that are available to me in the "Available Tools" column are Basic Tools, Navigation, Tasks, Create, Edit, Find Data, Measurement, Analysis, Edit Features, and Offline Management. I do have any Mapping/data group to tools to select from.

Gary

Sorry, my mistake, I had added that to my viewer and I assumed it was there by default. To add it you can take the workflow from the LA County demo site called "ExtractLayers.xaml" and add it to your site. You would then create a button on the toolbar with a command of RunWorkflowById and pass it the ID of the workflow "ExtractLayers".
This functionality will be built into the soon to be released 2.4 viewer.
Sorry for the confusion!

Wayne

No Problem. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Not sure how to access that workflow from the LA County demo site but I think at this point, I'll just wait for the v2.4 release. I'm thinking/hoping that v2.4 should be coming out any day now.
Thanks,
Gary

Hi, Is there any chance of getting this function sent to be or placed on the code gallery? I would love to make the jump over to HTML5 as the 2.4 Silverlight is full of bugs, but i can't do that untill the export markup function is avaiable.
thanks
James

James,
This workflow tool does not work for markup. The tool is designed for extracting features from a layer in your layerlist.

I'm running HTML5 Viewer 2.4 and I don't see that the button described in this thread exists nor do i see that the workflow described here is posted in the code gallery or example workflows. Does the elusive "Export to Shapefile" function actually exist in the HTML5 viewer?

Ethan,
Check the "Sample Sites" folder on the machine with Geocortex installed and inside it will be the LA County site folder. In the Resources/Workflows/ folder will be a workflow called ExtractLayers and that can be run either from the I Want To Menu or by adding a button to the toolbar.

Wayne
