Geocortex Essentials Manager with ArcGIS Sign-in: Who get to access?

Hi,

I am hoping someone could shed some light on this.  When selecting ArcGIS Online for authentification to Geocortex Essentials Manager in the Post Installation...

1. If I am registering with an Adminstrator, only that I administrator can access the Geocortex Essentials Manager
2. If i am registering with a Publisher/User, everyone seems to be able to access the Geocortex Essentials Manager

Please note, I didn't validate all the possibilities (e.g. can another administrator can also sign-in in case 1?).

I am using Geocortex Essentials 4.3.  Could someone explain what is going on?

  Hi Eric,

  When you register with ArcGIS Online the Post Installer creates an "app" in ArcGIS Online. The user that is running the Post Installer is the owner of this app and the app is not public.

  By default the following people will then be able to sign in to Manager:

  • The owner of the app. The person running the Post Installer.
  • All administrators of your ArcGIS Online organization.
  • Anyone that you explicitly share the app with. You would need to do this manualy through the sharing user interface of ArcGIS Online.

  If these defaults are not what you want then have a look at section 8.3.7 of the Essentials 4.3 Installation Guide for details on how to configure your own permissions.
