initial extent differs btwn desktop & handheld

Hi,

I have noticed that the defined initial extent seems to apply differently on the desktop device vs the handheld. Both the center and the scale differ greatly (on hand-held, the map is offset from desired extend and zoomed out to a much smaller scale. Have not tested tablet yet). So, i am forced to choose between providing an appropriate initial extent for either desktop or handheld devices but not for both.

Does anyone know of a work-around for this? If not, Latitude should provide a way to specify separate initial extent envelopes for the different shells.
