    Hello James,

In GVH 2.4, you can configure multiple base maps to display in the Base Map Switcher by setting the map services that you wish to appear in the switcher to be 'Base Map's. You can configure this setting by editing the map service, clicking on the 'Functional' tab, then selecting the value for Function.

In addition, if you want multiple base maps to appear in a Base Map Slider, you can set the Base Map Group setting, and have the services share the same group name. This is useful when performing longitudinal data analysis.

Also worth noting is that you can configure the 'Short Display name' for the service on the 'Details' tab. This is the name that will appear in the Switcher.

    Happy configuring! Stefan.

THanks for the note but it doesn't really address my questions:

    1. Can we select multiple base maps to display from the widget - not slider - at the same time ... obviously they must be set to basemap under the functional tab first.
    2. How do we get thuumbnails of maps to appear on basemap selector instead of generic icon for all maps?

I can't find any configuration to this, yet it shows this behavioue in the Admin and Dev Guide at 4.3.  Onviously I can turn on/off multiple basemaps via the Layers panel but widget doesn't seem to have the functionality of the SL basmap picker in that you coulod select multiple maps directly from it./customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1GoEAI

    Hello James,

    1. Yes, when you set multiple map services to be 'Base Map's, then they will appear in the base map picker. If you have configured base map groups, then the group name will appear in the base map picker. The base maps that appear in the picker are subject to the Layer Theme settings as well.

    2. When you edit the map service and configure an 'Icon URI' in the Display Settings, that icon will appear for the basemap. Also, if you have a base map group and have configured an icon on any of those map services, that icon will appear in the widget.

I hope this better answers your questions. Let me know if you have any others.

    Thanks, Stefan

I am having similar problem. I want the basemap picker showing up. I set the two basemap services functional to basemap and assign them to the same basemap group. However I do not see the basemap picker showing up, neither the thumbnails. I can only see the slidebar. Does anybody have any suggestions where I should revise to show the basemap picker and thumbnails.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Qfuooo,

Have you checked the layer themes? The two basemaps that you set should be included in the current themes. You just click the green button to make them visible.

    Hope that helps

I am trying to do something similar here. I have a street label cache and an imagery cache. I'd like these two to show up to the user as one basemap in the switcher. I can get them to show up as a single basemap in the layer list if I nest one service under the other in the map configuration, but I can't get that to work in the switcher.

    Hi Mike,

The ability to compose a single base map out of multiple map services is a new feature that will be making an appearance in the upcoming release of the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 2.5 & Geocortex Essentials 4.4.
