Default Value Not Accepted by Create New Feature

I have an existing site that was working well with HTML5 editing using the default edit create new feature tool.  Since upgrading to 4.3, I have added some columns  that are NOT NULL, with Defaults from coded domains.  When using HTML editing, the default values are not accepted in these new columns and an error shows that the column requires a value. 

The default value is showing up in the pulldown, but it is not applied.  To apply the default value, you need to select something else first and then go back and select the default. 

Stranger still, I have existing columns that worked before the upgrade with the same conditions that are still working.  If I add a new column following the exact settings that are working, the new column does not work-- the default values are not applied.

  Want to add that defaults work just great when I add a new feature with ArcMap instead of GeoCortex HTML5 viewer.
