Toolbar Editing - Multitool Items
Essentials 4.3 HTML5 2.4
In Manager, I am able to add Buttons and Tools to a Multitool on the Toolbar, but I'm not able to "edit" anything but the name of the tool or group.
This is especially frustrating when I'm unable to even see what Items are in the Multitool except by reading the JSON file. In order to see or change anything in a Multitool, even remove a tool or button, I have to go into the separate JSON files and edit the Items in the toolbar directly.
Is this normal?

Sean,
You can "expand" the multitools such as "Find Data" by selecting the edit button, and then unchecking the multitool checkbox. This will show you the tools that are within that particular mulitool. You can delete or add tools to the list, then edit the group, and recheck the multitool checkbox. One thing, in order to uncheck the multitool checkbox, the group can't be nested inside another group./customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elzuKEAQ

The Multitool checkbox does not appear on my Edit dialog. Just the OK and Cancel buttons. I'm in Essentials 4.3.

Sean,
I'm using Essentials 4.3 and HTML5 2.4 as well, so I'm not sure why the multitool checkbox is not showing up. It appears in both the "Edit Group" amd "Mulitool" edit screens for me.

Hi Sean,
To view the tools within a multi-tool click on the icon beside the tool and it will drop-down to show all of the tools within it.
The icon will look like a wrench & screwdriver.
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elu0OEAQFrom there you will be able to edit each tool individually, as well as delete tools.

Hopefully this helped, let me know if there are any other questions and I would be happy to answer them :D

I'm using GE 4.4 and GVH 2.5. I don't want to use multitools on the desktop (there's tons of extra, blank space to spread out over) but can't seem to get it to display in an expanded form. When I try to uncheck multitool for the measure tools I get an error. How can I make these tools expand across the toolbar?

Hi Rebecca,
You can't turn off the multi-tool on this tool because it is within an existing group, for example the Measure and MeasurementToolControlRegion tools are within the Measure group. If you want to expand the Measure tool to no longer be a multi-tool you will have to move the tool outside of the Measure group.
The reason this happens, is because we don't allow nesting of groups. When you turn a multi-tool into a non-multi-tool it creates a new group for all of the tools to go within thus creating a group within a group.
Here are some instructions on how to avoid the nesting groups issue:
Step 1:
Add the tools to your Configured Toolbar
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elTOKEA2Step 2:
Move the multi-tool outside of the tool group
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elTOPEA2Step 3:
Turn off the multi-tool property by editing the multi-tool
/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000elTOUEA2
Now your tool should no longer be a multi-tool, you may have to do some extra configuration to get it to look exactly like you want (maybe remove the group entirely and add the controlRegion to the group created by disabling the multi-tool, etc.)

Let me know if this worked for you or if you have any further issues

Worked like a charm! Thanks Cory! Is there a way to clear a drawing or measurement if the user no longer wants to see it on the map?

Hi Rebecca,
Glad that worked for you :D
To clear any drawings or measurement you can use the Clear tool within the Edit Drawings multi-tool. There is also an Erase tool to erase a single markup or drawing rather than clearing everything at once.0
