Holes in street labels

Here's a random one. My street centerline labels in my GVH 2.4.1 have little holes in them. All of my other labels are fine, and the same labels configured at a larger scale are just fine. At first I thought it must be an AGS issue, but then I compared how the labels look in my viewer to how they look in the AGO viewer.

in GVH:

/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000eltrHEAQ

in AGO:

/customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1kOEAQ

Any thoughts on what could be causing my labels to have holes in them?

  Just a guess, but it might be the image format?  Edit the map service, and under Display Settings, change the image format to something like PNG32.  I don't know if that will fix it but it is worth a try!
