KML specifications for HTML5

    Hi Dan,

Since we use Esri's Javascript API to implement KML support in the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5, we support only the subset of KML that Esri supports. See the "Supported Features" section of (https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/jsapi/kmllayer.html) this page for more information.

One important limitation is that your KML feed must be publicly accessible on the Internet, since it will be processed by the server utility.arcgis.com .

Daniel, please clarify what "public accessible KML feed" means, is this absolutely KML hosted files in the Internet? I have on premise KML files on internal file servers and KML network links hosted on ArcGIS Servers - they have valid URLs - does this mean I can add these KML links as a map servcice because Internally they are "publicly available" to our employees? Thanks! What if we have an internal ESRI Portal for ArcGIS that may have the utility.arcgis.com or an AGOL organizational account to publish the KML?

we were able to add the KML using our own internal portal to the map. however, the map is not showing on the Layer List. is there a code snippet to do this somewhere?

    Hi Mazen,

How is the layer added through Portal?  Are you making a reference to a Web Map published to your portal from Essentials Manager, or adding the layer to the viewer after launching it?

I don't think we have a specific code snippet for showing a KML layer in the layer list, but knowing how you are doing it now will help us determine if there's a bug or not.

    Regards,
