Instant Search scheduling in GE 4.4.2

Hi -

 

Wondering where (or if you can) one would modify the Instant Search Index schedule in the newest versions of GE.  I had it for older versions, but since switching from GAS2 to CORE, I haven't been able to find it.  Have found a folder called InstantSearch.IndexScheduler, but it is empty.

  A little more poking around has led me to the following location:

   

  C:\Program Files\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Core\NSRoot\Geocortex\Core\Roles\InstantSearch\ScannerManager\2.3.1\role.config.  This looks promising - has some commented-out code that looks like you can make active, with daily/weekly/monthly scheduling options.

   

  Just looking for confirmation that this is the correct location to modify the indexing schedule for GE 4.4 +

  Hello Allen and Rebecca,

   

  Allen the files you found are correct, and will change the schedule for the Instant search service scanner.  Please note that for the new schedule to take effect, you will need to go into the map services, and manually start the scanning (otherwise they will continue to use the default Once-a-week schedule).

  We're on GE 4.5 now, but looks like the directories/files are set up the same as 4.4.2 so we should be all set.

  Does adjusting this setting affect all sites? Allen, did you successfuly do this and if so would you be willing to share the code you modified?

  Hi Rebecca -

   

  I have not had a chance to implement this yet but will post as soon as I do.  From what I can see, it would effect all indexes built - I can't see a way to set the schedule on a per-index basis.  But I'm sure Latitude can answer this more definitively.

  Here's the response I got from Latitude today:

   

  Currently, the Instant Search Scanner Scheduling is not working correctly. This is a known bug and is marked as fixed for the 3.0 release of Geocortex Core which I believe is slated for release with Essentials 4.6. I don't have an ETA for this release. Unfortunately, there are no workarounds other than manually re-scanning your service.

  Thanks for the info above. It is very helpful. I also found this KB article (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCkba?sub-nav=kba&main-nav=essentials&#!/feedtype=SINGLE_ARTICLE_DETAIL&criteria=BESTANSWERS&id=kA360000000L14RCAS) . However I have couple of questions:

   

  Question 1: In the article it states... <StartupSetting Key="IndexSchedule" Value="{'Interval':'Daily', 'Hour':12, 'Minute':0}" />

   

  This example causes the indexer to run once per day at midnight UTC. If the Hour 12 is midnight, then what is noon? I am not quite sure if this is 12 hour or 24 hour clock. Since there is no AM/PM, I assume it is 24 hour clock, then I would think midnight is Hour 0?? 

   

  Question 2: In the article it states... Save and close the file.  The role will restart automatically, and your new schedule will be applied.  ? However in one of the responses above, it states...  Please note that for the new schedule to take effect, you will need to go into the map services, and manually start the scanning? So my question is whether I need to manually start scanning after setting the time or not??
