Displaying information from Virtual Directory
I have a large number of PDF's that I want to open as a feature hyperlink or in the map tips. I have copied all of them to the Virtual Directory, however when I use this link,
{SitePath}\Viewers\HTML5\VirtualDirectory\Resources\Assets\PDF\Sketches\{SKETCH}.pdf
I have the name of each PDF stored within the {SKETCH} field
The site opens a page, but my document doesn't come up.
Not sure how to resolve. Anyone else having this issue?

It might be the security settings in the browser, or even browser dependent. For example, Firefox doesn't let us open documents from the map at all, but you can adjust the security settings in Internet Explorer and Chrome to allow it. 0 -
Know any way to get around the settings? This is an extremely important feature for my organization, and need it to be useable on all platforms. 0 -
Can you try a similar linking to a plain text file?
Is the issue related to pdf's only?
If so then it may be how your pdf reader is configured. ie read pdfs in the browser or open with the actual pdf reader in it's own application window.
Assuming that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader in use, have a look at Edit -> Preferences -> Internet for related settings.

I've always had better luck creating a virtual directory through IIS that points to my folder of PDF's, then I can reference that virtual directory in my link. So my link would be something like:
http://{myServer}/scans/{SKETCH}.pdf0 -
Thanks Mike! I got it to work now. 0
