Important Bulletin for Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight Customers Regarding Esri’s ArcGIS 10.4
Esri recently (http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/new?utm_source=esri&utm_medium=homepage_banner&utm_term=arcgis10.4&utm_campaign=arcgis) released ArcGIS 10.4 , which includes stability enhancements and improved functionality. While we are pleased to announce that the latest versions of Geocortex Essentials (4.4.3) and Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 (2.5.2) have been tested and are compatible with ArcGIS 10.4, we have recently discovered that there are issues with ArcGIS for Server 10.4 and Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 2.5 compatibility.
It appears that the issue relates to an inability for Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 2.5 customers to load dynamic map services when using ArcGIS for Server 10.4. We are working with Esri’s Silverlight team to determine a path to resolution. We have not yet tested previous versions of Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight, but are making a conservative assumption that the same issue persists across all versions.
At this time, we are recommending that customers with applications built using Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight refrain from upgrading to ArcGIS 10.4 until we have more information and are able to offer a solution.
Again, Geocortex Essentials and Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 are working as expected with Esri’s latest release. We will reach out to our customers again with more information as soon as it is available.

Is there new information available on this issue? 0 -
Hi Nico! Yes, since our last update, we have been working with Esri’s Silverlight team to determine a path to resolution. Esri has confirmed that an upcoming maintenance release of ArcGIS for Server will resolve the issues that Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 2.5 customers are experiencing. At this time we do not have a confirmed date for Esri’s maintenance release.
We are still recommending that customers with applications built using Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight refrain from upgrading to ArcGIS 10.4, and wait instead until the maintenance release is generally available. If you have already upgraded to ArcGIS 10.4 and have an urgent need to make fixes to your applications, Latitude’s technical support team may be able to assist via a submitted case in the (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCMyCases) Geocortex Support Center .0 -
Hi Jordan
it would seem that it is not just dynamic servers that are at issue.
I am experiencing this problem at the moment on my DEV server. We were initially going to get rid of the SIlverlight viewer altogether but then thought better of it so that we could give our users a bit of transition time.
The SL viewer will load if I only use my cached aerial photos service.
Thanks

Hi Jordan,
Is a maintenance release available yet? I did the mistake of upgrading to 10.4 ArcGIS Server with 2.5 Silverlight Viewer this morning. I have since submitted a technical support request. Hopefully, a resolution can be found because my SLV is in production.0 -
Hi Jesse,
I know that I have already updated you via email, however I thought that I'd post here, just to close the loop.
As far as I am aware, the Esri maintenance release for ArcGIS Server 10.4 is not yet available. Perhaps you can let your Esri account manager know you are awaiting this release, and hopefully he can give you an estimated release date.
I am sorry for this inconvenience. This case will be assigned to an analyst shortly.
Best wishes,

Hello,
I see that ArcGIS Server 10.4.1 has been released. I checked the release notes and didn't see any comments related to Silverlight. Do you know if the problem has been resolved in this release?
Thanks,
Paul0 -
Yes, ArcGIS Server 10.4.1 (http://server.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/get-started/windows/what-s-new-in-arcgis-for-server.htm) has just been released , and it appears that this issue was addressed, though its description does not specifically mention Silverlight: BUG-000093360 ArcGIS 10.4 for Server shows 'tileServers' as an available property in the JSON representation of a map service
The list of addressed issues is (http://downloads.esri.com/support/downloads/other_/1041-IssuesAddressedList.pdf) available here .
Our QA team is confirming that this issue is resolved now. I'll provide an update on that shortly.0 -
I've just checked in with the team. Regression testing is still underway, so there's no "official stamp of approval", but no issues have arisen so far, and the issue where the viewer didn't load has been resolved. I'll provide a further follow-up when QA gives its official blessing. 0 -
I've followed up with the QA team. They have confirmed that the issue in ArcGIS 10.4 that prevented the Silverlight viewer from loading dynamic services (BUG-000093360) has been addressed in 10.4.1, and have conducted a limited regression, targeting the viewer's core functionality, that has not uncovered any new issues. Based on our testing, we're confident that Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight 2.5 is fully compatible with ArcGIS 10.4.1. 0
