Discrepancy between instant search and identify results for same feature and too many search results
We have a public cemetery map viewer that's behaving a little strangely. Our staff have an "internal" viewer where they can edit feature attributes (e.g. change a burial plot's status from reserved to occupied). The first issue is with recently updated features. This morning a plot was changed from reserved to occupied. The identify results for the plot reflect the changed attribute and the symbology changed to the correct colour but the instant search results still show "reserved". The other issue is with the search itself. I can start typing a plot number (e.g. 85A west) and even though I select the exact value from the search hints list, I get several results (when there should only be one). Here's the site URL: http://maps.rdos.bc.ca/Html5Viewer/?viewer=naramatacemeterypublic
Comparing search results and identify results for 85A West will demostrate what I'm trying to explain. I'm using GE 4.5 and GVH 2.6

Rebecca,
Regarding first issue, instant search is hitting an index, so it is not live. By default I think it re-indexes, once a week, so its expected that search results will not reflect recent edits. An identify, on the other hand is hitting the live map service. If you need search to be more current, you can either turn off instant search and just use global search, or I belive you can change the frequency of the indexing so that it happens more frequently, like daily (it still would not be live, but it would never be more than 1 day out of date).
The other issue is probably a known bug that at 2.6 that causes the search to return results for the numeric part of your search term when it should not. For example, another feature may have a numeric value of 85 in some searchable field and that record is returned in the search. According to Latitude, this will be fixed at next release.0 -
Thanks Zorba. Your comment about instant search makes sense. Unfortunately that results in a discrepancy between search and identify results which is very confusing to our users. I will try use global search instead but I don't think global search provides search hints which is a feature our users really like. In this case, one of the fields being searched contains hyphens so the user has to know to type in "85A-West" versus "85 A West" which is just not going to happen. If I wanted to change the instant search indexing schedule to daily how would I do that and would it apply only to this site? 0
