ArcGIS Online "Public Content" access
Trying to add a layer from AGOL into a Geocortex site. Do not want to change sign-in settings in the post-installer so I'm looking at the Service Connection option. This says that only public content is available and I'm trying to figure out what this means. Does this include content from our ArcGIS services that we have added to AGOL and marked as public?
If so, how do I go about accessing and adding it. I can see an 'ArcGIS Online' service connection, but can't really do anything with it.
Thanks -
Allen

Hi Allen,
If you've made the content public, you can add it to your site using the Add Map Service button on the map tab in Manager, and entering the URL to the content into the search box:
_img_ alt="User-added image" src="https://latitudegeo--c.na53.content.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=90760000000XcdX&feoid=Body&refid=0EM60000000Xw6r" _/_img_
I hope this helps!
Thanks,

Thanks Danny -
I was definitely over-thinking this one.

No problem Allen, happy to help! 0 -
I still wish there was a way to add secured content without changing the post installer authentication method. So like putting a username and password in at the add map service screen. Obviously no that simple. 0 -
Hi Stephen,
I would suggest posting that to the ideas section of the support center (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCIdeas?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&filter=1&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&page=1). If it gets enough votes, we will look at finding a way to support it.
Thanks!

Ok I have a related follow-up question - perhaps better for a new thread but will start here.
Scenario - I have an AGOL layer loaded into a Geocortex site. In AGOL, I add the layer to a simple AGOL map but put a filter on or change symbology, then save that layer. These changes are not reflected in the layer in Geocortex.
The goal here is to minimize the number of times a feature class is published in an ArcGIS map service since spinning up a service takes up a fair amount of resources. Was hoping to use AGOL as a way to modify symbology etc. for Geocortex applications. Is this possible?0 -
Daniel,
I'm having an issue with an AGOL hosted service that has been made public not working when it is added as a mapservice in Essentials. The connection validates as successful but it does not appear in the map and when you zoom to layer the screen goes blank.
This is the publicly available service we are trying to use http://services2.arcgis.com/2dxDmKAvomcBK4AK/arcgis/rest/services/randomFieldNotes/FeatureServer
I'm sure it's just something we're overlooking.0 -
Beck,
I would use https rather than http in your service when configuring in Essentials.0
