Reordering bookmarks

So I edited the site.xml and changed the order and associated index numbers for my site's bookmarks but it keeps reverting back to the original order. Is this something that's possible to do? The other option is to recreate every bookmark in the order I want but considering we have 20+ bookmarks in several sites that's not really an ideal workaround. I saw a similar post about this from 2011 but there was no resolution. I'm using GE 4.5.1, GVH 2.6.1.

  Have you cleared your cache? Or reload the page using Ctrl + F5 (should replace the cache on load).

  I swear I tried that last week and it reverted back to the original order. It seems to be working today though. Thanks Dan :)
