Exception during search - Global Search and Instant Search stop working

Geocortex HTLM5 Viewer Version: 2.6.1    Geocortex Essentials Version: 4.5.1

 

Our site's global and instant seach timeout without displaying any results.  All layers cannot be search but all other functionality of the site is not affected.  In Geocortex Essentials, when the search is down, I cannot access the "Instant Search" tab for a map service.  When attempting, after a couple minutes of a spinning blue ring, a check box and text appear for about five seconds before redirecting me to the Details Tab for that map service.  The text says something about disabling the Instant Search for that service.    Restarting the server fixes the issue but I do not want to do that every time this happens.

 

This is the second time in three days this occured and we have not edited or updated the site other than adding a layer theme and replublishing one service of two layers with a labeling change.  When looking at the log file, it also appears that at somepoints not every search results in an error.  Not sure if this is indicative of some sort of instability in our search index or what. I am drawing a blank on what could be causing this.  Any ideas???

 

This is the error in the InstantSearch.SearchService.log file anytime a search is initiated by a user. [2016-08-26 09:10:26,022][ERROR][6   ][InstantSearch.SearchService][Platform.Roles.InstantSearch.SearchService.FindFeaturesService] Exception during Search.

  We are having a very similar problem. Just upgraded to Essentials 4.6.1 and HTML5 Viewer 2.7. Same problem as you - globabl search only returning geocode results and no layer results. Instant Search setting on service just spins. Not sure where to go from here. Reboot doeesn't fix it for me.

  Sorry for the late reply but in a case like this I would -

   

  1) Make sure you are using the latest version.  Starting with Essentials version 4.6 there were several major changes to address Instant Search issues.

   

  2) Submit a support case.  Instant Search issues are difficult to troubleshoot and will likely need a screenshare session to resolve.
