Viewer failed to upgrade because shells are at different versions
I've upgraded from Essentials 4.5.1 to 4.6.1 and the HTML5 2.7.0, but one of my viewers failed to upgrade because the "shells are at different versions". What does ths mean and how do I fix it?
And please, someone answer. Don't leave me hanging like the person who asked this same question back in 2013. . . .

Howdy Sean,
I do suggest following up with the support team directly as it's very possible that the community doesn't have an answer for this one.

The issue arises when one of the JavaScript files for the viewer configuration (the "shell") is at a different version than the others in the same site. In our case, the "shell" for the Handheld had been set to a back up of the file due to a misedit that had hosed the Handheld. The viewer continued to function normally, but when the upgrade attempted to set the viewer to the newer version, it did not know how to proceed when the three JavaScript files were at different versions - e.g. the Desktop and Tablet were at 2.6.1, but the Handheld had been copied over with a 2.5.1 file. When I tried to go to 2.7.0, the error was thrown. Once I put a Handheld JavaScript file back in place that matched the others, the upgrade proceeded smoothly.
If you edit your JavaScript files, or copy and paste over them, be sure the file you are putting in place matches the version of the other JavaScript files in the folder.0
