Add attachments using the standard Create New Feature/Edit tool
Hi,
The standard create new feature/edit tool calls the command "ShowFeatureTemplatePicker" and displays all the editable layers in the workflow container. I like this becuase I can use one button to direct the user to all editable layers. Selecting a layer to edit and clicking on the map then brings up the feature attributes to edit, complete with form inputs and domains populated. That's great, it's exactly what I want.
What seems to be lacking however, is the ability to add attachments through this dialog. If the layer has attachments enabled, I'd like to be able to add attachments to my editable feature layer using this 'out of the box' edit tool. Why is it that I need to create and save a feature with only attributes, then separately go back and identify that feature, then add attachments? Am I missing something glaringly obvious? (I am quite new to GE...)
If I'm not missing something, can I:
a) include a file picker in the auto generated feature template form?
or
b) fire a separate workflow on feature save to add attachments without having to manually reselect that feature? How do I get access to the save button to do that?
Thank you for any assistance.

The feature needs to first exist and have an ObjectID before you can add attachments to it, so the attachment table can build the relationship. This is why you have to create it and then select it again.
Your option B could probably work.
You can also just create a custom workflow that creates the feature and then adds an attachment to bypass the FeatureTemplatePicker. You should be able to piece something together using stuff from the Code Gallery or other examples.0 -
Hi Leon,
This functionality is currently listed as an Improvement within our Bug Tracking application (GVH-12524). I have added you as a stakeholder and will try and update this thread once this functionality becomes available.
Right now as you and Dan both mentioned, the user has to first create the feature, click on the feature again to go into the details pane, click on the Actions Menu icon, find the "Attach a file or photo" option and then add an attachment. It is a lot of steps for users who are not familiar with Geocortex, hence the improvement request. Thanks Dan for offering some additional insight to Leon's inquiry. Please let us know if you were able to find a suitable workaround.
