Do I need to configure a proxy page to edit a secure service?

I am trying to edit a secure feature service that is hosted in ArcGIS Server 10.3.1. I am running Geocortex Essentials 4.6.1 with the HTML viewer 2.7. I can edit the features just fine with no security applied to the services. “ There was an error applying feature edits: RequestError: Unable to load proxy.ashx? ”. Do I need to configure a proxy page to edit secure services or is this just a problem with my security settings?

  Hi Ryan, 

   

  By default, Essentials Manager has a proxy page set up for the viewer under Essentials Manager > Site > Viewers > Edit > Application > Proxy URI.

   

  If the parameter states: "proxy.ashx", then that means it is reading the file that is located at:

   

  C:\inetpub\wwwroot\<ViewerName>\proxy.ashx

   

  I would double check to make sure that the proxy.ashx file is located where it should be and to ensure that the content in this file has not been changed. The best way to do that would be to redeploy your template in the Post Installer or just remove the Proxy URI parameter altogether from Essentials Manager so it does not read any proxy page.

   

  If it was a permission issue with the proxy page, it would say "Forbidden" or "Access Denied" so no, you do not need to configure a proxy page for the secured service.
