Filter layer selected by default

I have added the filter tool to the context menu.  We want users to be able to find this easily, especially after they have added layers from Layer Catalog.  I would love it if there was a way to have it always have the layer in question selected to filter by default, instead of having the user have to scroll through a list to find the layer that they probably assumed would be selected in the first place by default.

 

I have seen that this sometimes is the case, but not always - it's very inconsistent.

  Hi Allen,

   

  This is not something available out of the box, you would need to request it by posting to the "Ideas" section of this site.  Your other options would be to create a workflow to replicate what the Filter tool does and add your default data source option or to create a custom tool via custom code.

   

  FYI, for version 2.8 of the viewer the Query tool is being revamped and enhanced but I don't believe the Filter tool is.
